Various Types of Logos

Logo is basically an identification mark that symbolically represents an entity. It is the face of the company and helps to popularize the brand name. Logo is also used for communicating the corporate view of a business enterprise. There is no doubt in the fact that a well-designed logo can create a positive impact on the brand image. Truly speaking, it can uphold the spirit of the company.

Usually there are four categories of corporate logos. They are Iconic/Symbolic, Illustrative, Text/Word mark and Graphical. Each of these logos has certain advantages and disadvantages. All of these logotypes have been mentioned below:

  • Iconic/Symbolic Logos
    These types logos portray an image of your company and its products. The most interesting thing about this logo is that it can be used with text as well as with graphics. This is probably the reason why most of the people like to go with it. However, while discussing about this logo, it should also be mentioned that these logos are quite difficult to create. So for developing such a logo design, always appoint an experienced logo designer.
  • Text/Word mark/Logotype Logos
    Text logo is also known as Logotype or Word Mark. One of the key advantages of using this logo is that it can automatically promote the name of an enterprise without being chaotic with graphics, visuals, illustrations and heavy clip arts.
  • Illustrative Logos
    These logos are the more detailed as well as a bit complicated logotypes. They are basically the pictorial representation of some feature of your firm. These logos can also depict the business idea, name and company’s mascot.
  • Graphical/Combination Logos
    The features of these logos are quite similar to that of illustrative and iconic logos. This graphical element looks quite visually appealing. They could be easily recognized and it is also easy to apply them for different media usages.

These are indeed some of the main types of logos, which the designers of a standard logo design company develop for their clients.
