To Be or Not to Be an User-Friendly Web Designer

You love your visitors and you want to get loved by them. It is a simple theory. But take a look at your website and ask yourself: Does my website have an inviting look? Do not cringe and give that awkward expression. Deep down your heart, you know that your website lacks something and no matter how hard you try to fathom the reason, you will feel that you are getting nowhere close to that answer. Now, there is nothing secret about making your website user-friendly. You just need to follow some simple rules and that’s all. Keep It Clean: Adding loads of meaningless texts, blinking images, heavy flash file etc in the above the fold section are enough to kill your website’s aesthetic appeal. Believe in one simple truth. Simplicity has no alternative and that means, you need to work hard to the bone to keep this vital section clutter free.

Consistency: If you aspire to shine as a great web designer, you need to master the art of staying consistent. You cannot simply start of the day with a magnificent design and then rushes on the next project caring a fig for the quality of the design. You need to maintain a certain level of consistency throughout so that visitors do not feel they have drifted away too far.

Make It Searchable: Stop playing around with the navigation. Visitors do no like the idea of being lost whenever they click onto a particular link. You need to keep the navigation as simple so that they can have a clear idea of where they are going. You should be better off with simple and traditional navigation unless you are targeting an audience of a different species. And for God’s sake do not open links in a new window. It looks funny.

Use Standard Font: If your objective is to make your visitors spend some quality time in your website design, you should use regular fonts that users are comfortable with. Use regular sized fonts and do not use bold profusely. It looks bad and try heading sporadically.

Give Room To Breath: Do not add as many stuff in the design as one can image. Give visitors a room to unwind. You should not discard the importance of using Whitespace. It is good if you are running some advertisement programs but you need to make sure that they have not reached to the point of being boring and distracting.

Color: Do not use flashy color unless your clients say so. People do not like to see rainbow in a website. Try a sober color combination. You can use bright color only when you have to emphasize something really important.
