SEO: The Importance of Keyword Density

Optimizing a website mainly involves writing articles with contents related to the website, creating relevant text for a particular topic (of the article) and proper input of specific keywords within title tags. Proper Search Engine Optimization (SEO) makes a website popular with its visitors and increases traffic.

Keyword Density refers to the ratio of the number of keywords used on a particular web page to the total number of words existing on that very page, i.e. Number of keywords used on a webpage/Total number of words on that page.

The keyword density of an article ranges between 2% and 12%. However, the appropriate keyword density is 8%.

If there are 400 words in an article and its keyword density is 2% (say, for a particular keyword), then the keyword will be displayed 8 times, i.e. 2% of 400 is equal to 8. Similarly, if the keyword density ranges from 8% to 12% in the same article, then the keywords will be displayed 32times or 48 times. This frequent occurrence of a particular keyword spoils the charm of the entire article. Therefore, for the proper use of keywords it is recommended to the beginners to go through an article of a high ranked website. This helps to understand the ways of incorporating keywords specifically in an article.

Keyword density plays a significant role in an article because keywords decide the quality of the article and its rank in the Search Engine Results Pages. Websites that are ranked at the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or the 20th positions, are extremely well written. They are immensely popular with the visitors due to their enjoyable and enlightening contents.

While writing an article, two important things should always be kept in mind, one, writing contents that are enjoyed and liked by visitors and second, the appropriate use of keywords.

The article may contain certain words that are different, but may have a similar meaning. Therefore, instead of using the same keyword repeatedly, corresponding words of similar meaning can be used. This gives a clear idea of the article to both the search engine as well as the visitors.

Wordtracker, a web application, helps in thorough keyword analysis. Wordtracker is actually, a catalog containing a collection of terms. This helps in searching specific keywords or key phrases related to the topic of the website articles. While using wordtracker, clicking on a desired keyword displays a list containing the specified keyword along with related keywords, on the left pane. As such, wordtracker is the best option to explore the delightful world of keywords and key phrases.
