Website Design Style

It is common problem for every designer to find him torn between two contrasting ideologies when he is asked to try a different style. Different style does not means, you are at liberty to introduce something innovative rather it is about following the same pattern and making small tweaks here and there until the design obtains some semblances of a different look. Now there are some time tested and well rounded styles that you can give a try if you wish to add some freshness in your website design style.

Futuristic Look: This is a popular designing style which is adopted more or less by every second website designer. As the name suggests, the style focus on the use of latest and sophisticated technologies that are still not available for use. However, the main problem with this style is that unless you are given a certain level of liberty, you may not be able to make the most of this website design style.

Less Is More: Minimalism is the most happening trend in the field of website design. This trend came as a huge relief just when people were getting bored with webpages with loads of frivolous images, completely unwanted background music, totally ridiculous rainbow colored text and other glossy things. Minimalism is a style where prominence is given to simplicity. Visual gimmick, complex navigation style and complexities of any other kinds are considered to be sacrilegious offenses. However, you should not make your website design look boring. Simplicity does not means you have to cut down on the sophistication.

Glossiness: This is probably the most popular trend in present website design industry. Designers love to design shiny buttons and glossy color background to entice the attention of the users. It looks good and people are still loving it.

Retro Style: This style predominately focuses on reincarnating anything that is related to past. Designers are much in the habit of bringing back the nostalgic illustrative look of the 50’s and the cool pop culture of the 80’s. However, designer should impose a certain degree of self restriction while reviving the art and culture of the past so that modern viewers can relate themselves easily with it.

Word Art: This style has had its origin in the print world and it is predominately used in digital counterparts of traditional magazines. Use of grid layouts and typography are some of the vital elements of this style. As the typography occupies sizeable section of the design, use of images and photographs is almost irrelevant here. Other prominent features of Word Art are use of graffiti, bold typography etc.
