Speed up your Site
Google has already made it clear that website loading time is going to have a major impact, though not decisive, on the ranking. A website that takes pathetically long time to get loaded is anything that you should boast of. Visitors are less likely to stay on a website if it takes more than 5 seconds to get loaded and it leads to poor users experience and eventually lead to poor conversion rate. So, if you do not want to see your website design getting lost in the crowd despite having great content, it is high time for you to speed up your website. Here in this article, we are going to share some common tips to help you increase the loading speed of your website which will definitely augur well for your website:
Place Script Tag At The Bottom Of the Page: The problem of placing script tag on top of the page is that it blocks parallel download. That simply means, if you place script tag on top of CSS tag, the browser will not be able to download and process the CSS file unless and until the scripts get processed completely. So, it is best practice to place Scripts tag at the bottom of the page so that browser can continue parallel download.
Reduce The Number of HTTP Request: If your website is sending too many HTTP requests while rendering in a browser, it can slow down the page loading speed. By making minor modifications such as combining all CSS background images into a single image, combining all the scripts into a single script etc, you will be able to reduce the number of HTTP requests significantly.
Place CSS Tag At the Top of The Page: Placing CSS tag at the bottom of the page is a wise option since the browser will render the CSS file at the end and it may prove good for users experience. Placing it on the top will help the browser render the CSS simultaneously with other elements and thus give the users a preview of what is under rendering.
Large Number of Images: There is no point in using large number of images unless it is absolutely needed. You should avoid using images and try texts. Since Google or any other search engines cannot read images, it sounds sensible to use texts rather than images as far as possible.
Do Not Scale Images in HTML: This a common issue with website designers. Most of us are into the habit of scaling images in HTML but it only increases loading time as the browser needs to recalculate the height and width of the images in order to render them correctly.
Create External Files for CSS and JavaScript: Inline CSS is a passé. You should create separate external files for CSS and JavaScript. It will reduce loading time significantly.
