Facebook Message Gets a Refreshed User Interface

Facebook finally realized that their outdated message interface needs to be changed to meet current web standards. Since last Wednesday, August 22, they have rolled out an improved message version to users.

The new message UI features two panels. Received messages and search tool are displayed on the left pane. When you click on any message, the right pane displays the entire thread and a reply option. You can check all the incoming messages at once, without going back to the main page. The UI looks suspiciously similar to the newly launched Microsoft Outlook web email client.

Besides the layout change, users can now add emoticons and photos to messages. These elements will certainly make messaging more fun and user-friendly. The search tool allows you to search messages by typing the sender’s name or keywords.

Facebook has also introduced the much anticipated keyboard shortcuts for better navigation. To view the complete list of keyboard commands, PC users can type Alt+Q and Mac users, Ctrl+Q.

Don’t get upset if the features are not available for your account yet. Facebook is world’s largest social media network and it takes some time to push the latest updates to every corner of the globe. The refreshed UI will be available in the next few weeks.
